Welcoming address of the Russian Academy of Sciences to the Vyzov Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations, guests and participants of the “SCIENCE. DIALOGUE. TRUST. Winter Talks”

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Russian Academy of Sciences and on my own behalf, I would like to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all the participants, guests, and organizers of the inaugural event "SCIENCE. DIALGUE. TRUSТ. WINTER TALKS" which is anticipated to become an annual affair.

The prospects and challenges of this event are extremely encouraging. The general academic community cannot but welcome the establishment of an international scientific dialogue with a wide range of partners as well as promotion of the agenda of science diplomacy and creation of models for protected space reserved for dialogue. Science has always been an international endeavor, it is a powerful driving force for progress with unlimited scientific interest and the excitement of discovery. We are all committed to the advancement of the Russian science; we all want our discoveries to be the most innovative and promising. However, in order to make these discoveries, we must be familiar with the global scientific landscape, must able to navigate it freely, and be aware of the scientific achievements of our foreign partners.

I hope that events like today's meeting will help expand and strengthen international cooperation.

It is quite symbolic that the "SCIENCE.DIALGUE.TRUSТ. WINTER TALKS" is taking place during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Academy, established by the decree of Peter the Great, has maintained close relations with scientific institutions and researchers from other countries throughout its history. Today, in spite of all the ongoing challenges, the Russian Academy of Sciences continues to pursue international cooperation based on principles of responsible and open dialogue, and ensuring mutually beneficial joint activities.

I wish all participants of the "SCIENCE. DIALGUE. TRUSТ. WINTER TALKS" fruitful work, constructive dialogue, and meaningful practical outcomes!
