The 14th APEC Conference on Cooperation in Higher Education took place on the sidelines of the 10th Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, Russia, and focused on education for sustainable development. Director General of the Vyzov Foundation for
the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations Natalya Tretyak was a special guest at the conference.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC) includes 21 countries that are home to 40 percent of the global population and account for over 50 percent of the global GDP, making them the core of the world’s innovative potential. The VYZOV Prize
for Future Technologies’ 2025 submission campaign testifies to the excellence of scientists in these countries: one in five applications for the award’s international Discovery category came from scientists based in APEC nations, Natalya Tretyak told
the audience. This year, VYZOV Prize organizers received a total of 155 submissions for the Discovery award, which included innovative research done by scientists from China, Mexico, Peru, Canada, Chile, Malaysia and other countries.
The Vyzov Foundation’s CEO emphasized the increasingly important role of scientific and technological diplomacy in addressing the issues that were discussed at the conference. The foundation sees its mission in promoting international scientific relations,
which is why the VYZOV Prize is open for submissions from scientists based in any country worldwide.
“The VYZOV Prize is open and transparent. Any scientist who shares our foundation’s principles may apply for the award. The value of the VYZOV Prize is not limited to the fact that it helps us get to know great scientists and provide them with considerable
financial support. What is also important is that any scientist who applies for the award becomes a member of a large, international scientific community,” Natalya Tretyak said.
The 14th APEC Conference was attended by more than 100 participants coming from nine countries including Russia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Peru and Japan.
