Vladimir Putin Congratulates RAS On 300th Anniversary

The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) is celebrating an important milestone, its 300th anniversary. During the gala evening in honor of this anniversary, the academic community was addressed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

"I would like to congratulate all citizens of our country and, of course, academicians, corresponding members, academy staff, and all national scientists on this RAS anniversary. And, I will also congratulate our foreign colleagues who continue to cooperate with us despite the restrictions, bans and barriers that are imposed by people that obviously do not have an academic mindset. These people do not understand that it is impossible to erect a barrier, an impenetrable Iron Curtain like once existed," the President noted.

Events that bring together scientists from different parts of the world enhance international relations. One such event took place on February 6, 2024. The "Science.Dialogue.Trust" event, organized by the Vyzov Foundation, gathered researchers from more than 25 countries to discuss issues of trust and open dialogue in the academic community.

Vladimir Putin also spoke about the support of research and scientific projects. "Today, at the Council for Science and Education, I emphasised the need to increase funding for domestic science, considering the additional plans. We agreed at the council meeting that the Government will look into this issue and report back as soon as possible," said the Russian President. 

It is now particularly important to support science and scientists who conduct vital research. The task of establishing an expert community is equally significant. The Vyzov Foundation aims to create such a community, and its Scientific Committee brings together leading experts from various fields of science.
